Boardwalk Empire's Season 2 feeds New York's Hungry
9,800 meals recovered from multiple sites
New York, NY September 30th , 2011
The wildly popular Boardwalk Empire Season 2 may have launched this week on HBO, but Rock and Wrap It Up! volunteers have watched it from the sidelines since March when filming began all around the NY/NJ area. For the second season, food prepared but not served has been recovered by agencies working with the awarding winning anti-poverty think tank, Rock and Wrap It Up!
Ten different agencies, from all five boros, safely recovered over 12,780 pounds of food. Using USDA and EPA recommended calculators, 9,800 meals were served from these recovery efforts and 9,585 pounds of greenhouse gases were prevented from reaching the atmosphere and further preventing land fill issues.
In April, Rock and Wrap It Up!, was awarded the 2011 Environmental Merit Award by the EPA.
Rock and Wrap It Up! was founded in 1991 and has fed over 750,000,000 people with 5,000 volunteers serving 500 cities. The film recovery Project It's A Wrap! began in 1996 with recovery from "The Devil's Own" with Harrison Ford and Brad Pitt.
The Rock and Wrap It Up! mantra, "reducing the world's poverty footprint by reducing societies carbon footprint", has been a cornerstone in the fight to reduce poverty in North America.
75 sports franchise donate food everyday to RWU including the NHL's 30 franchises throughout NA. RWU also partners with NBC Universal, MTV and 100's of school and hotels to recover valuable assets for the poor.

Film In Focus Article
This film magazine article describes how, with the help of Rock and Wrap It Up!, one ton of fresh produce was donated to a local food shelter during the filming of the movie "It's Complicated", starring Meryl Streep. This food, the majority of which would have otherwise ended up in a landfill, fed 500 people for a week.
