Newsday reports from the Marriott Hotel in Long Island and their charity donations to poverty-stricken communities. The Rock and Wrap It Up! program, "Hotel Wrap!" helps hotels donate unused toiletries - such as shampoo and conditioner and half-empty toilet paper rolls - to the needy.

The American Hotel and Lodging Association suggests hotels contact Rock and Wrap It Up! as part of their conservation efforts. It points out that having a non-profit collecting excess food and/or toiletries will avoid fees incurred by waste haulers.
